United Mileage Plus Elite Status in 2009

With all my travels in 2009, I almost flew exclusively on United or Star Alliance members.  As a result, I had the great opportunity of starting out as a General Member of the Unites Mileage Plus status and end up with the highest earned elite flying status on United as a 1K member.

It was great receiving my United Premier (silver) status card (minimum 25,000 EQM), followed up by my United Premier Executive status (gold) card (minimum 50,000 EQM) and lastly my United 1K (platinum) status card (minimum 100,000 EQM).

With my 1K status, I received six (6) complimentary Systemwide Upgrades (SWU) for 2010.  I plan to use those upgrades on my international travels to get upgraded to United Business Class.

In my first blog post, I will review and summarize my travel experiences in 2009.

I started.the 2009 year with a visit to Seoul, South Korea in January.  In February, I visited Chicago, IL and caught an NBA basketball game at the United Center between the Orlando Magic and Chicago Bulls.  In March, I visited Boston, MA and toured the Harvard University campus.  In the same month, I visited Pittsburgh, PA touring Carnegie Mellon University and flew to New Hampshire and toured Dartmouth College.  In May, I visited London, England to attended a conference.

In September, I traveled around Northern and Eastern Europe visiting countries such as Denmark, Sweden, Croatia, Slovenia, and Bosnia-Herzegovina.  In October, I visited Washington D.C. and received an award at the Capital Building.  I ended the year with another visit to London, England in November and December.

Overall it was a great experience and had an opportunity to interact with many people.
